A teaser for the addition was released earlier this year, and CD Projekt Red later revealed some information about it, including the fact that Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty will be a "spy-thriller expansion" that is "located in an all-new area of Night City." Along with the announcement that we'll be working with Idris Elba, we also received a thrilling new video for the expansion at The Game Awards 2022. We'll discuss Phantom Liberty in detail in the paragraphs that follow. The new expansion Cyberpunk 2077 release date is currently TBC 2023. The upcoming expansion is only planned for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X, following CD Projekt Red's decision to phase out support for PS4 and Xbox One.

A question many of you are asking: Is Phantom Liberty going to be free? We took it straight to Radek Grabowski, the global PR director for CD Projekt Red, who has confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty will be a paid expansion. "As for the expansion's pricing, we have not revealed the exact details yet – but it will be a paid one."

A brand-new teaser for the next expansion debuted at The Game Awards 2022, providing us with an intriguing new look. We'll be collaborating with none other than Idris Elba in the upcoming spy thriller Phantom Liberty, which is slated to send us on espionage missions. Yes, Elba will enter the Cyberpunk universe as Solomon Reed, a NUSA-affiliated FIA agent.

New expansion Cyberpunk 2077 Release Date: More about it!

The setting of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty will introduce us to a brand-new area of Night City. The Pacifica Combat Zone, which has been the subject of rumors, is where the expansion "mainly takes action," according to game director Gabriel Amatangelo. Because it was walled off from the rest of Pacifica before the district's construction was even complete, this sector, which is located in the southwestern block of the map, continues to be among Night City's most deadly.

In fact, if you stay in Coastview for a while, you could even hear some worried residents spreading tales about the NCPD eliminating dangerous criminals from beyond the walls of the battle zone. In Cyberpunk 2077, two collectible Shards allude to future conflict in the Pacifica Combat Zone by mentioning the existence of an armed militia and a General who doesn't like scavengers. Expect infiltration and espionage to be on the menu here, since CDPR has hinted that Phantom Liberty will be a "spy-thriller expansion" and the trailer depicts V swearing loyalty to the New United States of America (no friend of Pacifica, if history is any indication). Phantom Liberty is "a new sort of storyline, which we're having fun with," the game's director Gabriel Amatangelo teased in a brief statement.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, according to CDPR, will include a "new cast of characters," albeit there will also be some old favorites. Keanu Reeves has already confirmed his participation: "It's fantastic to be back to be playing the character of Johnny, and I hope you're delighted to see him rocking out once more in the dark future." We know that we'll be playing as V, likely continuing advancement from the core campaign.

Regarding the backing CDPR is giving Phantom Liberty, we are aware that almost half of the studio is devoted to the project. Regarding the other half, we know that many are presently working on The Witcher 4's pre-production, but there are also a ton of other future CD Projekt Red titles that are in various stages of development. We know that about half of the studio is working on the expansion, therefore we can infer that CDPR is supporting Phantom Liberty. The Witcher 4 pre-production is now occupied by a large portion of CD Projekt Red's workforce, but there are also numerous more forthcoming CD Projekt Red projects in various stages of development.

Cyberpunk Orion, described by CDPR as a "Cyberpunk 2077 sequel that will prove the entire strength and potential of the Cyberpunk world," is one of the most intriguing. Although a release date for this project is not yet known, it is anticipated to go on sale after The Witcher 4: Polaris and before Project Hadar, a brand-new IP distinct from the Witcher and Cyberpunk series that is now in the conceptual development stage.

One of the several games CDPR is currently working on is Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. We are aware that the company is working on Project Hadar, a brand-new IP, as well as The Witcher 4 (plus two other titles that will create a new sega). However, CDPR is also working on the Project Orion sequel to Cyberpunk 2077. According to the company, a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel will demonstrate the entire strength and potential of the Cyberpunk universe, which also wants to "push the Cyberpunk franchise farther and continue harnessing the promise of this dark fantasy realm."
