Meet Your Maker Gameplay

Meet Your Maker, which takes place on a post-apocalyptic Earth, will see players attacking other people's outposts in search of valuable commodities while defending their station with a variety of traps and guards. Behaviour Interactive earned widespread recognition after the release of their own IP Dead by Daylight in 2017, which still rules the asymmetrical genre five years later, despite having co-developed games like Assassin's Creed and Call of Duty. Behavior’s latest game, Meet Your Maker, is the studio's first release since the public debut of Deathgarden, a venture that was formally abandoned in late 2019.

Players assume the position of a Custodian, a subordinate of the Chimera, a living experiment that is the only thing that can save all of the life that is still left on Earth in this game set on a dying Earth. For the sole goal of safeguarding their Chimera, players must build outposts equipped with movable traps and AI-controlled guards. This gameplay loop of outpost development and infiltration is the game’s main focus. After a player's own Stronghold is adequately guarded, they can attack other players' outposts in search of lucrative resources. In addition to Meet Your Maker, Behaviour Interactive is developing another multiplayer game.

The Meet Your Maker trailer, which was unveiled at the 2022 Game Awards, not only gives players a certain release date for the game but also illustrates three of its primary gameplay mechanics: building, raiding, and upgrading. These three gaming features together make up the basic gameplay experience, allowing players to collaborate with others when constructing or raiding and gradually increase the lethality of their outpost by upgrading important components over time. The AI-controlled guards that players may station at their outposts and pre-record specific courses for to corner intruders are also mentioned in the trailer, as well as a replay system that enables players to view all raid attempts made on their outpost, both successful and unsuccessful.

While a first-person viewpoint may be a fan favorite for shooters, it was essential for keeping gameplay fair. “The FPS view for both building and raiding was a good fit for us,” continues Pannell. “For one, the claustrophobic view offers a great sense of immersion. There’s also a core rule: traps in the game can’t fire at a player without seeing them first and allowing time to react. This adds an inherent fairness to every death and leaves no room for ambiguity, which in turn helps Raiders to learn and not make the same mistakes twice.”

Millions of people will be able to interact with your content if you share an Outpost on Meet Your Creator. That's a potent thought, and the game makes an effort to maintain a constant connection between challengers and creators, even when they aren't online at the same moment.

On the Builders’ side, similar social features also carry a nice educational bonus. “Our Replay System lets you watch any Raider take on your Outpost and revel in the joy of their failure – or pound your fist on the desk as they breeze through. This is a real replay of real people, and you can tell,” shares Pannell. “There’s nothing like watching a player fall for a clever setup you’ve built or come back to see a player who took thirty or forty tries to crack your Outpost.” Meet Your Maker’s Skull System also lets Builders return to their Outpost to collect resources from skull markers where Raiders died. Each skull displays the Raider’s name, rank, and what killed them.

Although the Builder vs. Raider dynamic shown in Meet Your Maker won't be a completely original concept to some, the game's incorporation of intriguing elements attempts to push the genre's boundaries and create a fresh and engaging experience. Behaviour Interactive's newest game aims to maintain this same level of flexibility and allow players to do things on their terms and at their own pace, seeing how they fare in a competitive setting before changing strategies to account for any weaknesses. This is comparable to the function of builds in Dead by Daylight. The Meet Your Maker beta is currently accepting sign-ups for individuals who are keen to experience it.
